Grass Seed Varieties and Mixes
being Sold in Junction City

Note: Many of the blends are sold under a name (i.e., Sunny, Shady, etc.) and the actual varieties that make up the blend may change from year to year, but the basic distribution of the different types of grass within the blend probably won’t change. A specific perennial ryegrass variety this year may be replaced with a different perennial ryegrass variety next year, but it will still be a perennial ryegrass. If two different batches of the same named blend had different varieties listed, the "other" varieties will be listed following a dashed (------) line.
The products sold at each store are grouped into an "Acceptable" category or a "Not Recommended" category. This somewhat arbitrary designation is based on what is generally recommended for home lawn situations in the Geary County area of Kansas. There may be certain situations when a variety/mix/blend listed under the Not Recommended category may be the appropriate product to use. For more information, contact Chuck Otte or refer to K-State Research and Extension bulletins Shade-Tolerant Grasses, MF-2128 or Turfgrass Selection, MF-2032.
